Schools in Australia are either state or privately funded. They are offered at two levels: primary and high school. Primary education covers children aged 6-12, while high school caters for students aged 13-18. Compulsory education is available for children aged 6-15. After compulsory education, students can continue high school education, enter business life or attend vocational courses.

As the highest-level learning experience in Australia, the university offers study opportunities at both undergraduate (Bachelor's Degree) and postgraduate level (Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Master's, Doctorate). There are 41 universities, 38 of which are public, with the remaining three privately funded.

Vocational institutions offer students real-world experience by providing practical courses on industry-specific skills. These courses are delivered on various platforms, from state-funded Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions to private institutions. Many vocational institutions have strong links with universities and offer students the opportunity to transfer to degree programmes if they meet specific requirements.

There are approximately 100 private English language centres in Australia. English lessons can be taken for various purposes, such as studying, travelling, immigration or business. English classes are also offered at some universities and TAFE institutions.

In Australia, the academic year starts in February for school students and in late February/early March for vocational and university students. Many schools have three or four terms. Universities and vocational institutions hold their two examinations in June and November. After each exam, holiday periods vary from two to four weeks. The long summer holidays run from November to March.
